Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Moradabad Lok Sabha seat, passed away at the age of 72. He had been unwell for some time and succumbed to his illness at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Kumar, a senior leader of the BJP, had undergone an operation for a throat problem and had gone to AIIMS for a check-up, where he breathed his last.
Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar was a prominent political figure in Uttar Pradesh, having served as the Lok Sabha MP from Moradabad from 2014 to 2019. However, he lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to ST Hasan of the Samajwadi Party, who was jointly fielded by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), SP, and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
Before his tenure as an MP, Kumar had a long and distinguished career as a politician, having been elected as a five-time BJP MLA from the Thakurdwara assembly constituency in Moradabad. He served in this capacity from 1991 to 2007 and then again from 2012 to 2014.
Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar is survived by his wife, Sadhna Singh, as well as a son and a daughter. His untimely demise has been met with deep sorrow and condolences from political leaders and supporters across the country. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed shock over Kumar's passing, offering his condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed for the departed soul to find peace and for strength to be granted to Kumar's family and supporters during this difficult time.
